Eduardo Lamas

Researcher at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA, Brussels) since 2008, Dr Eduardo Lamas specializes on the artistic relations between the Southern Netherlands and Iberia (1500-1700) and is also responsible for updating, valorizing and expanding the Open Access collections of KIK-IRPA’s documentation centre, available online via BALaT. Within the Institute, he is responsible for IRPA’s Photo-Library. His areas of specialisation concern, on the one hand, Netherlandish artistic presence in the Iberian Peninsula, in particular sixteenth-century Flemish sculptors and seventeenth-century Flemish painters in Spain. On the other, painting and drawing produced in Spain in the 17th century, with a special focus on cross-media collaborations between painting, sculpture and architecture. He contributes regularly to international journals, exhibition catalogues and collective books on these subjects. He is co-editor of the book Copies of Flemish Masters in the Hispanic World: 1500-1700 (Turnhout, 2021).
